Hell Ya! This is my first post. For over a year now, I've been obsessively waiting on the release of the movie "Tron: Legacy", and if the movie itself wasn't enough, the music is composed by Daft Punk. If you preorder the soundtrack, it will arrive "on or before November 22nd".

There have been many "fake" Tron Soundtrack wannabe's floating on youtube, so don't be fooled if you're gonna look for them. Some of them are dope, yet not Daft Punk.

Two weekends ago Emily, Heather Peggs, and myself (Molliemogo) headed out to Malibu for Jesse of Modus Vivendi/Sam Sparro camps beautiful wedding on the cliff overlooking the water.

Sam sang, Heather DJ'ed, I drank like, one thousand glasses of champagne and spewed some serious drivel at unsuspecting bystanders that happened to get too close. Just call me the Black Widow of wedding chat. (Muhahahahaha! Always wanted a super-power. "Check out this artist from San Francisco, she's soooooo dark. Blah blah blahhhhh.")

I do recall, (and one of the last things I remember), a bunch of us running down a hundred steps to the dark ocean underneath and playing in the surf. Seriously! I think I brought a red velvet cupcake down there with me. Oh the wonders of the world. Happiness is...cupcakes.

Having moved to Nashville from Los Angeles about two years ago, I NEVER thought in my life I would be even talking about some town called Bowling Green, in a state called Kentucky that once when I traveled to New Orleans someone said to me "you want to see some COUNTRY people? Go to Kentucky!" But since living here in this time, I have grown to love this little town and all the people in it, they're some of my dearest friends, and moreover, the incredible MUSIC community from there. Unlike Nashville, (and I can say this since I've been here for a while now so chill out) there are some effing rock bands with some real balls... that blow you out of the water when you listen and watch them perform. We're just lucky to be an hour from the there. Bands and artists from Bowling Green seem to not give a F with a capital F about how they sound or how they mold....they're not trying to sound country, singer/songwriter, indie, hip, folky or anything.. they're just rocking and f*cking shit up with their music. Below are a few... and stand by, because I'm not letting this town go... it's too good!

Some interesting facts about Bowling Green, KY

Bowling Green is the fourth-most populous city in the US State of Kentucky after Louisville, Lexington, and Owensboro. The population was 55,097 in 2008. Bowling Green was founded in 1798 after Robert and George Moore donated an additional 30 acres to the Warren County trustees. General Motors has an assembly plant in BG in which all Chevrolet Corvettes have been constructed since 1981 and Cadillac XLRs are being built there until production ends in the spring of 2009. Other significant businesses in Bowing Green include Fruit of the Loom, Houchen's Industries, Holley Performance Products and Camping World. In addition to all all of the other media, the town has been used in music videos, movies and television shows throughout the years. In Halloween and The Fog mention of locations and streets are very apparent to residents of Bowling Green. Director John Carpenter grew up in Bowling Green and has placed many references to the city within his motion pictures. There was a spoof of Halloween titled Hauntedween that was filmed on location in Bowling Green. BG also has one of the largest college radio towers in the country.

Need I say more?! Well I don't have to say more now, but shit the minute I arrived in Nashville (August '07) I was ranting and raving about them. I had the pleasure of watching this EARLY promo video:

Needless to say I was instantly in LOVE with this band. I started telling everyone I knew about them, I even called Steve Aoki begging him to do a remix, I sent songs to everyone, getting everyone in LA and beyond as in love with them as I was. SXSW of '08 I was running around to everyone "you have to see this band!". I wanted to see them live. I had to. I'll never forget the first time I saw them play the Mercy Lounge in Nashville in August that year. SO much pure raw energy I hadn't seen since I saw Nirvana live, oh wait, I've never seen Nirvana, but since they're my favorite of all time I felt the closest to seeing them that night. (This past SXSW in 2009 I remember being at Stubb's for the SPIN party... my friend Jim Merlis who used to be ahem, cough cough, Nirvana's publicist and I were talking about new bands, I literally metaphorically tied his neck with a noose requiring him to see their show at Antone's that night, also Joe Levy (who used to be Editor in Chief of Rolling Stone Magazine) overheard us talking, I was like "guys, this is the most raw thing you will ever see and experience of today, please come to this show." Of course after the show, they're mouths were as wide opened as I expected them to be... they were smiling big and so was I) Flash forward one year and half, January of this year when "Ain't No Rest For the Wicked" started hitting KROQ, they are in the middle of blowing up (Billboard Hot Mainstream Tracks, peak @#11!! What what?? and Active Rock Charts #13!!?) and they have since become good friends, like my brothers, Matt in particular, that crazy sob is one of my best friends, turns out he and I have that same red Kurt Cobain Journal book. So, I don't really need to say much about the band these days, you've all either seen them or heard about them and heard how fucking incredible their live show is. If you're sleeping under a rock and you haven't, then google them (my google alerts will not stop). Plus they're incredible great guys. They're honestly gen-u-wine good 'ole country boys. Pure hearts. Crazy as shit but good as gold. Family guys. They love their ladies. Suckers for a good ole time with friends. Whenever they're back home, it's as if they've been gone forever. I haven't seen any band with this much pure passion and energy EVER. There's nothing more that I need in life, but some good old passion, which tends to be missing in most artists and the people working in music these days......

sssshhhh psss they're recording they're new album in Nashville this week... I got a peek at a few of the songs... wait till you hear them!!!

Exhibit B: Morning Teleportation first time I saw them was New Years Eve last year... Tich of Cage (Daniel Tichenor) made sure I went in to see them.. sure as shit, they were innnncredible. Indy pop psychedelic, with great dance beats without being a dance/electro band at all. They've got that kind of epic sound that you would find in a band, say like Muse. Epic sounding songs, that carry out like a good novel or film, with a beginning, middle, crescendo and end, without sticking to verse, chorus verse structure. The songs pull you in and hold on to you, you want to go wherever the songs are going. Plus the lead singer, Tiger reminsd me of Aaron Bruno of Under the Influence of Giants, which makes me really happy. Since playing around the BG they immediately got the opportunity to move to Portland where they are now working with the Modest Mouse guys who are producing their album. Holy crap!

Sleeper Agent good friends of Cage (Brad Shultz of CTE is helping push these guys)....in fact they got started on the same stage that CTE got started on- Tidball's in Bowling Green. They're a great rock band with also a ton of energy....Justin is one of those front men, kinda like Matt Shultz, that you never know what to expect with him, he might be somewhere in his head staring off into space, running around the stage, jumping into the audience. Their sound reminds me of Cage the Elephant in that they have very tight rhythms and scorching leads mixed with Modest Mouse and a tinge of old Offspring vocals. Band members, Tony Smith - guitar/vocals, Michael Dean - bass/vocals, Mike O'Brien - drums, and Justin Wilson are all badass mofos....they can't stand still when they play, they're moving, jumping, doing aerials, climbing on top of shit, and will have you moving too. It's always a SHOW with these guys. You want your dollar's worth at a live show? Go see Sleeper Agent. They are in the process of recording their debut album as we speak by Malcolm Springer
(Mike's Pawn Shop, Full Devil Jacket, Fear Factory, Matchbox Twenty, etc). Woohoo!

Also: Downtown Handshake including members of Sleeper Agent.... another band with tons of energy and delivers an amazing live show. I really like this band. Beautiful and dirty at the same time. Beautiful catchy melodies with grimey (*note typo on "grimy" ode to my favorite record shop in Nashville, TN) guitar riffs and leads and nasty/pretty vocals... just as most all my favorite bowling green bands are....Downtown Handshake is a band you can hear every member's contribution.. listen close, there's a lot going on in each song, the group singing together gives you a feel as if they're a punk band -but they're far from it. Think Spoon with balls and dirty hair that rip through your ears in sub-subterranean melody.

They are currently recording their debut EP in East Nashville for a Fall, 2009 release. They will have a few digital singles available in August, and will be playing some shows locally until the release date which will be followed by a small regional tour in the fall.

I just wanted to say a hello to the HellYa! universe. I am Mollie. I am now somewhat attached to Heathers ass (insert color of choice, I know what she would pick.)

I like peaches but I like nectarines better. I like driving really fast, and caffeine, and I like reading a ton. I mostly like listening to way too much music and seeing if I'm going kill myself faster via brain hemorrhage from listening to music too loud, the Vespa I'm about to buy, or quietly in my sleep at 99.9. Can't wait to find out!

So, my favorite find of the day would be this band from Tulsa RadioRadio. Check out the track "Watch Em All Come Runnin" for fans of the Killers and any new wavey shite like myself.

Two JAXART Artists will be on tour with The Airborne Toxic Event!!! Congrats Jax, this is huge news!!!!

The Henry Clay People announce a 6 week US Tour opening for The Airborne Toxic Event!!! They band just released a 7 inch single and 5 song digital EP for "Working Part Time" on JAXART Records last year and soon after released a full length entitled "For Cheap Or For Free" on Aquarium Drunkard's label AutumnTone Records.

Also JAXART Artist Rademacher will join the tour in support on a few dates in late March!!!

there is a assload of blogs out there which constantly pat themselves on the back . . . mostly for blogging early on unknown artists that end up breaking into the mainstream. who doesn't like a good 'HEY I TOLD YA SO!' every now and again? i'd like to take this opportunity to 'toot' my own horn, because i can. i'm good enough, i'm smart enough . . . and you know what? people like me. lady sovereign said it best:

if you are a band signed to a major record label, one clue that you are a high priority is having a TRAILER for your upcoming MUSIC VIDEO! yep, you read that right . . . it's a TRAILER, for the new VIDEO for the 3rd single 'SEVENTEEN FOREVER'. Pretty crazy, as I haven't even seen BRITNEY have a trailer for a music video.....

i'm speechless. lets take a look shall we?

good times. is the radio voice guy really necessary? thoughts? i am excited to see the finished product . . . guess i'll be tuning into FNMTV right? December 5th? Only on MTV. Gotcha. Thx big voice guy!

i was here at this video shoot, and it was really fun to see how far they have come in such a short time. the set was realllllly far, in the BOOOONIES. kinda sketchy, like i was an extra in a cohen bros movie or something . . . i got lost 4 times trying to find the DIRT road in Valencia. didn't realize i should have taken my HUM V or JEEP Wrangler for the all terrain. i can't wait to see the finished production, which includes a few of the family members of the band . . . some more famous than others! and yes, i'm talking baby oprah here - - MILEY CYRUS herself and daddy BILLY RAY both guest in this video. and NO, you may not have my autographed 8X10 of Hannah Montana. that one is all MINE. I do however have a shitload of METRO STATION SIGNED POSTERS to give away . . . how about the first 3 people that comment back to me here on this blog will get a metro station poster - - signed by every member of the band, way before they were famous. i made sure to lock down a good number of them, but i'm saving those puppies to sell on EBAY when they become bigger than the jonas bros. yeah that's right i said it. bigger than jonas bros. that's all for now.

look out for intern ELISSA who is also in the video - - she pretty much got a starring role - and i'm very excited to see her video acting debut. :) she is seventeen forever, and as big of a fan as i am.

yeah i know i know - - damn i've been just brag city lately - - - but as you know if you read this poorly updated blog, i haven't always been this bragadocious. it's just when it rains it pours right? either it's my lucky year, or i won the lottery and my prize was keeping my job. (which means more to me than a bunch of cash)

so lets talk about Heath Ledger and Batman!

I can't believe I haven't written about this earlier - - like the day after i saw it?!?!?! jeez, there aren't enough hours or assistants in the day!

So . . . I got an email from my buddy Tim Carhart about the Dark Knight screening Warner Brothers was hosting. i was invited if i could bring somebody famous - - like Jeffree Star etc...

I asked Jeffree Star first, and he said yes - as long as he could get back in time from warped tour. that never happened, so instead I invited my good friend AARON PAUL. you may know him from either BIG LOVE, or he stars in the new A&E show BREAKING BAD. If you haven't seen either of those tv drama / sitcoms - please do! you will love it. especially if you are facinated with religion like me, and people who cook crank is always interesting! haha

The whole place was jam packed! both myself + aaron had to sit 3 rows from the front - and this was in an IMAX theatre - so it was pretty crazzzzzy. We were sitting next to Brett from THE USED, Ashley Tisdale, Brandon Boyd from Incubus, and 4 rows behind me was the BECKHAM clan.

The movie was the best film I've seen in FOREVVVVVVER. It is by far my favorite BATMAN movie - - Heath Ledger will win an OSCAR (duh.) and my only complaint of the whole movie was Christian Bale's Batman Vocoder (which made him sound like a retard. But - you can't win em all!
again - HEATH LEDGER - damn this role was deep - - and yes, super super dark.

I don't want to give anything else away, but if you have any questions let me know - - i can't wait to see the movie again, and probably again. then buy it on dvd.

I have to give a big ass THANK YOU to hottie TIM CARHART for hooking us up! It was such a treat to see the 1st screening of DARK KNIGHT, especially when the director is introducing it, and saying he still might have a few edits! haha it was so surreal.

I re-discovered my love for Joshua Radin this week.

Back in 2005 when WE WERE HERE hit stores, I was working for SonyBMG promoting the album... I remember being kinda bored with the songs since the music seemed so low key, but after a couple of years of ear growth and opening another copy (I still have several sealed ones in my closet... maybe I will do a contest or something for one) and trying to get myself to calm down from a fit of anger, I realized how truly well written his album is... Since then I have not been able to stop listening to it.

It all started with the new song SKY, which I heard while stumbling through muxtape... I went directly to iTunes and bought it on the spot. I LOOOVE this song, listen to it on Joshua's myspace page to see what I have been obsessed with all week... (Yes, I was obsessed, just ask Kelsea)

Like a Duet made in heaven... Joshua and Ingrid Michaelson.

Check out the old stuff, check out the new stuff, check out his face (it is pretty nice to look at), just check him out! As I understand it, we are due for another full length from Joshua late summer... I don't know about you guys, but I will be looking forward to it.

I'll be honest. i Love Miley Cyrus! So cute, and so talented. She's is taking over! well i guess the whole Cyrus family is! they deserve it, as they are the nicest family i've met in the business. One time I gave Billy Ray Cyrus one of my Hell Ya! mixes when I met him a while back @ one of the first Metro Station shows - - and the next time we spoke - he told me which songs he liked best!!! WTF!?!?! BIlly Ray you rock!! That shit never happens!

holy crap i've been a bad blogger . . . but i have a hell of an update!

ok wow - i haven't blogged since the 80's or something - - or so it feels like! sorry for the lack of communication and updates. although, if you are on my facebook friend's list - - you have probably seen my rediculous updates (such as going to parties w/ Ryan Seacrest, meeting JC from Nsync at my club night, running into Bret from Flight Of The Conchords again @ the secret BECK show, going to the KATY PERRY carnival @ capitol records for her release party, recording w/ Jeffree Star & Danger Radio, seeing COLDPLAY do a long practice and set @ Jimmy Kimmel Live, you get the picture . . . )

i've been having a blast and soooooo busy lately. it seems too smooth actually - - i'm waiting for some shit to hit the fan. i'm not used to everything going my way without a huge fight. haha. if you worked 6 yrs @ KROQ, and 4 yrs @ Capitol Records to date you would probably feel the same. it's been a constant struggle to get people to really pay attention, and now, i believe everyone is really listening. If not now, maybe soon enough you can be just watching . . . stay tuned! ;)

SO work is going really well - - i most recently came across this cute video of DUKES OF DAVILLE - check it out - - Matt Mahaffey (my favorite producer - and the reason I found out about the Dukes) tells the same story I do, about how I played him Gnarls Barkley 'Crazy' and he responds with playing me DUKES OF DAVILLE 'Steady'! the rest is history!

I used to get frustrated about not being able to sign bands, being A&R for the past 4 years at a major record label - - but not anymore! it's about quality, not quantity.

"It's not what good girls do..." I know I know, Katy. I'm into guys, but I would totally kiss you.

I just picked up Katy Perry's new CD One Of The Boys and it is just sooo good that it makes me wanna be bad. A fun, fancy-free straight forward pop album with a little girl rock flare, I have a feeling that this CD will be my summer soundtrack.

As a girl in her 20's living in LA, Katy speaks my language, from the fact that nearly all of my close friends are guys (One Of The Boys), to that time I was hanging over the porcelain throne after a few too many vodka-crans SWEARING I was going to move home (Lost), to the time when I ended up drunk, locked out of the hotel room, wandering around the strip for 6 hours (Waking Up In Vegas)... And of course that dare from the boys where I wounded up lip locked with my best friend (I Kissed A Girl)... I feel almost any girl could find a little bit of her own story here. And for the guys, did I mention Katy is hot? (See above picture)

Hey Hell Ya-ers!

Wow it has been a while…

I made myself my new Summer mix CD about a week ago and it has yet to leave my car. Covering everything from Duffy to Does It Offend You, Yeah? the CD has been keeping my interest for far longer than half of the guys I have dated in the last year... Ha! (but oh so true)

One of the songs is a new one from my boys, The Postelles...

These boys have been even busier than I have. After just wrapping up a tour of the UK and France, these barely-old-enough-to-vote boys have recently released their EP on iTunes, got booked for BOTH Bonnaroo and Lolapalooza, and have a new song recorded with Strokes superstar Albert Hammond Jr. The new song 123 STOP is a catchy summer-tune that makes you want to drive around with your windows down, singing along, not caring about the rising gas prices or the lady in the car next to you giving you the you’re-so-crazy look. And we aren’t the only ones talking about them. They have been played on Radio One in the UK and have a slew of press and A&R following… Check out 123 Stop on their myspace page and pick up their EP on iTunes.

As for me, I have been busy busy with all that is life. One of my best friends got married last weekend... Huge music lovers, I walked down the isle to Bright Eyes’ “The First Day of My Life” (I was a groom's lady)… No average wedding march for the Bride either, she walked to Iron and Wine’s cover of “Such Great Heights”.

They had one of the BEST DJs I have ever experienced at the wedding... DJ Jester the Filipino Fist is his name, and though he wouldn't play me any Mark Ronson, he did mash some great tunes together and kept us dancing for hours on end (everything from swing to hip hop). As I understand it, he is a touring DJ, so I highly recommend seeing him... Check out his myspace here.

****another bragging post alert****

Yeppers I did make it to see MGMT on wednesday . . .

MGMT were playing a secret party thingy @ the Avalon. I heard through fellow HellYa!Deejay Kelsea (who is always the one that finds out about all things secret and awesome / ala NKOTB!)

so it's the 11th hour, here are my 2 options - - which do you suppose i did?

a) not be a douche, suck it up and just go home and wonder what i am missing . . .

OR

b) be a total douche and ask for tix at the last minute. and it's super sold out. bonus.

so of course i chose B! haha.
if it was anybody other than AMANDA WALK @ COLUMBIA i wouldn't have been this stupid. so please kids reading this - - hard work does pay off - and if you stay in the biz long enough - you can make a request like this without getting your ass kicked or fired . . .
AWALK is a real friend, not just an industry hookup. I could probably call her from JAIL and she would bail me out - - - that's how much she rules. :)

this is amanda - if you see her - - give her a hug or a high five. cause she rules.

MGMT just keep getting better and better every time I've seen them. I started out as a hater - - then slowly turned - - but the 3rd show I was begging LIZ @ the Echoplex to let me DJ the MGMT/Yeasayer show. Which i did, and it was mindblowing! THANK YOU as always amanda - - how'd you like my Hell Ya! mix? (minus the tracklisting haha)

we ran into Mischa Barton outside and I walked right up to her and said 'you are really beautiful!' cause she is! (and NO MOM i'm still not a Lesbian) but thank goodness she was wearing pants, as i hear she has a case of some serious cellulite. WTF?
don't worry Mischa! it could be worse! Lucky you didn't get stuck with butterface! she's pretty much perfect, but i'm glad to know that she is flawed too! she should keep that shit under wraps! literally!

overall MGMT=awesome
HUGE props to MAUREEN KENNY is pretty amazing at her job - - she signed both MGMT and METRO STATION this past year! CONGRATS MAUREEN! It's so great to see women kicking ass in the biz. GIRL POWER!

(**sidenote - METRO STATION is now #9 on TRL!!! Damn!! Remember when I booked them to play Hell Ya! night and they played right after BECK?!?!? That was bananas. And since half of the band was 17 at the time, they didn't realize how cool that show was for them. they will always be able to say BECK opened up for THEM. HAHAHA. hellya.)

so yeah every once and a while you have a revelation - - or at least i do - - and i just ponder on how freakin AWESOME my life is sometimes!

does that ever happen to you? well i am constantly thanking my lucky stars at where i am today, but i didn't get here on just luck. i know some of you out there must just hate me - - - as it seems i'm always bragging about something awesome that i'm up to, or going to, or about to do - - yadada

anywhoo - - this is one of those posts! so if you hate when i starting bragging - - just skip this post altogether. haha

here's a bunch of reasons why this past SUNDAY and MONDAY kicked major ass:

THIS SUNDAY:

1) MY BAND I got signed to Capitol Records DUKES OF DAVILLE was featured in the MTV MOVIE AWARDS.
**BIGGGGG ASSS THANK YOU TO BEN @ MTV - he was the one responsible for pitching dukes to his producer bosses, so he RULES. He has excellent taste in music, and p.s. he's really really hot too! bonus!)

2) I ended up getting TICKETS to the MTV MOVIE AWARDS at the last minute!
**BIGGGGG ASSS HUGE THANK YOU TO MITCHELL FRANK (mayor of silverlake / ala he basically started all things spaceland/echo/malo/etc.....)

here were some highlights of the MTV MOVIE AWARDS - - which were surprisingly very good - - funny - - and it was sooooo exciting to see the band I signed being played when Zac Efron won for 'Breakthrough Performance' for his role in HAIRSPRAY:

THIS MONDAY:

3) Mostly everyone that knows me and reads this blog should know I work for Capitol Records - - one of the main reasons I work there is because of the band COLDPLAY. Coldplay, Radiohead, & of course THE BEATLES. So - - - it was a great surprise to be invited to attend the COLDPLAY show @ JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE.

this was very exciting as I actually attended COLDPLAY @ JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE the first time around which was JIMMY KIMMEL's FIRST SHOW! (this was when I worked @ KROQ, and my former boss - who taught me everything i know - AMY STEVENS was the one that booked Coldplay - - like in 1 day or something! It was bananas. Superbowl sunday, they closed off the streets - - just jam packed full of action.

This time around - - it felt more intimate - - maybe since I was about 2 feet away from the band! hahahaha

yep. be jealous. my life rules this week. but i do in fact work hard for the money. i go big - or i don't go at all.

This was very special, and I think you MAGGIE SIKKENS for giving me your ticket - - I have great friends (just in this post - i'm thanking BEN @ MTV, MITCHELL @ SPACELAND, MAGGIE @ CAPITOL, damn - - i got HOOKED UP this week!

Bret You've Got It Goin' On! (Youtube Video)

Yeah he does! I almost tripped up the stairs of club 86 last night when I saw Bret at the decks - - - I said to Ana 'hey wow that guy looks like Bret from Flight Of The Conchords! Funny!' and she's all 'It Is!' HAHAHA
I turned into a 15 yr old girl, all giggles and giddy, wanting a photo for my new default. So before I dorked out and asked for a pic, i ran into the girls bathroom to fix my hair, makeup & make sure my perfume/deodorant was holding up . . . (i always have a mini febreze spritzer just incase!!)
Even though it was 99 degrees in the womens restroom, i gave myself a quick bouffant (thanks cass for the lessons! i love it!) so here is the results - - i'm really happy with the turnout - - it looks like we are a cute couple or something: (wishful thinking!)

Don't we look good together? Yeah i think so too. Bret, call me, and i'll give you that tour of Capitol Records that i promised. (that's my usual pickup line - - - 'hey do you want to go to the roof of the Capitol Records tower?? um yeah - I could hook that up! Lets go!') WORKS EVERY TIME!

enough about that - - lets talk about TONIGHT!
It's my b-day and i'm having all my new favorite bands on one bill! Come on down to Spaceland and celebrate with me!

New Kids Dreams Can Come True TWICE!!!

Last night something very very special and one of a kind occurred down on the Sunset Strip. None other than the New Kids On The Block played a “private”/”secret” show rehearsal in preparation for their upcoming appearance on Good Morning America this Friday.

The only logical thing I could think of doing when I found myself standing in the venue awaiting the kids first appearance on a stage in front of fans in 15 years – was to PINCH MYSELF. HOW the HECK did I finally get the chance to see my 6 year old dreams fulfilled? I spent my younger years playing with the nkotb Barbie Dolls, wearing the themed nightgowns while sleeping in my official nkotb sleeping back with the matching pillowcase – this was serious business for me as a kid. Sadly though, the closest thing I ever got to seeing them in concert was watching one of their live shows from a Vegas hotel room…until now!!!

Thanks to my good friend and co-worker Gina Star I was informed about this secret special event on Monday and God bless the soul of Peter Torres (Rock A&R for Thrive) for pulling through and getting Jenna and I on the house list for this event.

Around 8:30 a blank white screen covered the curtains of the stage of the House of Blues Sunset and the shrill screams of grown women filled the room like an arena. A montage style video full of tons of New Kids nostalgia on film proceeded to remind each and every one of us why we were there… after all these years we were all just as excited as we would have been back then.

The white screen was replaced by 5 microphones and as the curtains rose so did the decibels in the room, to such a level that one would think they were at the Staples center witnessing 20,000 pre-tweens cheer for Miley Cyrus.
The Kids (or men, rather) hit the stage sharp dressed, in shape and accompanied by a full line of back up dancers. The stage reached into the middle of the room and NKOTB danced their routines and hit their notes with such finesse…we all forgot they are now in their 30’s and 40’s? The room was enamored, elated, and ecstatic - the energy was unlike anything I’ve ever witnessed.

It was a short performance, The Kids played a wonderful medley of their hits, which included Step By Step, Please Don’t Go Girl, Hangin’ Tough, The Right Stuff and more. They then continued with their new single “Summertime” and finished off the night with one more song and dance - along with a very sweet farewell to the crowd.
Cell phones and cameras were not aloud in the venue, but thank God for my boots – I snuck my blackberry in and towards the very end I was lucky enough to snap a few shots to share with you all. Check ‘em out below as well as a few youtube vids I thought were quite appropriate to share.

my first autograph i was ever excited about was from the NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK back in the daaaaayyyyyyy. (The Hangin Tough' tour - - right before the Funky Funky X-mas tour)
My dad is a television engineer and happened to work on this show - - he surprised me with an autographed copy of the entire show script - - signed by all 4 members of New Kids On The Block. I was shocked and so surprised that my dad (who has a rule never to ask for an autograph, or photo from famous people) actually hooked up the best gift EVER.
Turns out - - years later he told me that him and his buddies forged all the signatures of the New Kids On The Block - - he had been lying the whole time! man what a letdown! note to all lying fathers out there - - - keep the lie going! your kid will NEVER KNOW THE DIFFERENCE!

all this NKOTB talk is for a reason - - i just got word they are playing a secret show TONIGHT @ the HOB Anaheim!!!! soooooo exciting! if anybody has an extra ticket - email me! heather@hellyadeejays.com
