I'll be honest. i Love Miley Cyrus! So cute, and so talented. She's is taking over! well i guess the whole Cyrus family is! they deserve it, as they are the nicest family i've met in the business. One time I gave Billy Ray Cyrus one of my Hell Ya! mixes when I met him a while back @ one of the first Metro Station shows - - and the next time we spoke - he told me which songs he liked best!!! WTF!?!?! BIlly Ray you rock!! That shit never happens!

Yester-eve Miss HELL YA! Heather and I got to work on the flyer for the LE SAC VS PIP show at the Roxy whilst watching some Arrested Development and 30 Rock. Being that neither of us were joining the crowds of sweaty people in Austin this week, we decided that it would be a good time to relax- yet we somehow ended up working... I don't think Heather nor I know how to "not work"...

I am actually really excited about this show... I have been listening to LeSac VS Pip on their myspace and I am sad that I will be missing this show... But I know you will all have a blast. Make sure to hit up your local ticketmaster for some tickets before they sell out!

My 200th post! YAY. Plus a recap of HELL YA! last thursday w/ Mezz Owls & The Mae-Shi!

Damn I haven't ever been as busy as right now. It's a good thing. So much good stuff happening, and so many great club nights / dj events I've been involved with. I got to DJ the SPACELAND 13th Anniversary Party, which was amazing. 13 bands and it seemed I was djing for 13 hours. HAHA. I love djing though, so no complaints! (Thanks Jennifer!) :)



The past Hell Ya! Night was one of our best. As I have said before, I'm a terrible writer, with terrible grammar. So I will leave it up to a few other amazing bloggers to explain the greatness of last thursday's Hell Ya! Night @ The Echo w/ Frankel, Eagle & Talon, Mezzanine Owls, & of course THE MAE-SHI!

my favorite band and album of 2008 so far is . . .

THE MAE-SHI are a local LA band I've been aware of for the past 4 or 5 years, first time hearing about them from the now-defunct band called THE MEAN REDS. (remember those kids?! so cute, so young, but so loud and craaaaazypants! Anyways, back to the story . . . The Mae-Shi I was always aware of, I was just too stubborn and shallow minded to revisit their sound in the past 5 years. I didn't think I would like the Mae-Shi . . . but turns out!
BOY WAS I WRONG! As of right now, The Mae-Shi have my vote for my favorite album of 2008 so far!

(***and NO, it isn't because of the album title 'HLLL YH', nor is it because my middle name is MAE, nor is it because they are headlining the next Hell Ya! Night this month, February 28th @ the ECHO! BE THERE!!!)

Luckily I had a few 'signs' that pointed me in the right direction. My close friend JERRY, whom music taste I value more than any other, had me drive him home so he could grab his copy of "HLLL YH' and play me his favorite tracks. He was so passionate about this band that he wanted to see my reaction - listening to the MAE-SHI for the first time. Now that is EXACTLY the type of thing I would do! I live for these types of moments, where you get-off on seeing somebody else discover your favorite band for the first time. It's the sole reason I have this blog, book my Hell Ya! club nights, record my podcasts, compile, burn and pass out my hell ya! mixes etc... and on and on....

so yeah just watch the Mae-Shi video below (which they made themselves!!), buy the new album, and come see them as they headline this month's Hell Ya! @ the Echo, Thursday, February 28th! HELLL YA!!!!!

Holy Hell Ya! Nights . . . This Thursday, Next Thursday, etc....

I am so excited about this thursday - - I have been so f-ing busy that I haven't even been able to blog, read the la weekly, listen to new hot tunes on other blogs, etc.. all of my regular routine. I've actually been in the studio with the band I signed - DUKES OF DAVILLE - which is the most exciting part of my job. I love just being there, being a fly on the wall and watching the magic happen. I can't wait till this record comes out, it will be so exciting. My first big project, and it's really really really really really really good. I'm not just saying that because I work on it - - I'm a fan first, A&R / Label person 2nd.

So . . . back to this thursday night! All I can say is, PITTSBURGH SLIM is the SHIT pass it on! I am so excited to represent the 412 and have SLIM on this Hell Ya! night. Plus - - he has a new track with Cisco Adler, who has been busy producing, promoting and being in the band Shwayze etc.. They might just do a secret track together - - fingers crossed!

Looks like I'm bringing the Sunset Strip to the ECHO - - HELL YA.

I LOVE HIM!) and for the Man Like Me Hell Ya! night apparently SPANKROCK was there - WTF X 2!! and for the Hotel Cafe Hell Ya! I ran into THE VINES, JET, Imarobot, etc . .. basically it was rockstar usa.

i should be in perez hilton.com or some shit. or at least have my own reality show. come on peeps. hookitup! :)
